Project description: After loosing her studio space in the warehouse district of Minneapolis due to a sale this artist needed a new area to display her art. The attic space in her 1908 Kenwood home was perfect. The initial design process expanded the original floor plan of 3 small bedrooms and 1 bathroom with 7' ceilings into a large and open studio with 14' vaulted ceilings. The room features an exposed chimney, built in oak shelving, and hardwood floors. |
Project description: The upstairs of this story and a half house was dark and small. The owner originally planned on simply adding a skylight but eventually decided to open up the entire floor. Knee walls and dividing walls were removed. The once seperate hallway and bathroom became part of the master bedroom. The ceiling was vaulted and 2 sky lights were added. Laminate flooring replaced the carpet and a larger window was installed at the front wall. The once gloomy second floor now serves as a comfortable master bedroom. |
